Hon. Pal Mai; Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, convened a Water Sector Coordination Meeting attended by German embassy, Dutch embassy, UNICEF, World Bank, IOM, JICA, ICRC and USAID at German embassy on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

 

In his welcoming remark, the Minister thanked the development partners for turning up and for their continued support to water sector.
The aim of the meeting was to enhance partnership and strengthen water sector coordination between the Ministry and Development Partners, focusing on the need to create an enabling environment for investment in water sector by reviewing existing documents: the Water Bill, Water policy, Urban and Rural Action and Investment plans, and developing a water resources master plan, Strategic vision of the ministry 2040 and translation of the WASH compact into action plans.
The meeting resolved that this coordination meeting will continue quarterly and a high level technical committee to be headed by the ministry is to be established. In the meeting, the partners appreciate the initiative and expressed willingness to continue attending the meeting for progress of collaborative efforts to improve the country’s WASH status.
