Juba, South Sudan – The South Sudanese government is warning of potential flooding due to rising water levels in Lake Victoria. Water Resources Minister Pal Mai Deng announced the news during a press conference, urging the public and relevant organizations to prepare for an imminent disaster.
The Ugandan government is releasing excess water from Lake Victoria at a rate of 2,400 cubic meters per second, raising concerns about flooding downstream in South Sudan.
Minister Deng emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the need for immediate action to mitigate the impact on vulnerable communities.
