Juba, South Sudan – May 27, 2024, The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, led by Hon. Pal Mai Deng, has launched the SOUTH SUDAN COMPACT, an initiative focused on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). Vice President and Chairperson of the economic cluster, H.E. Gen. Dr. Wani Igga, officiated the launch on behalf of President H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The event, themed “Open Defecation Free South Sudan by 2030,” saw participation from numerous humanitarian organizations, development partners, and civil society groups. Dignitaries included members of the Diplomatic Corps, National Ministers, parliamentary representatives, heads of commissions, H.E. Marian Schiffers, the Netherlands’ Ambassador to South Sudan, and Ms. Hamida R. Lasseko, UNICEF’s Country Representative.
